This contribution analyses the discipline of assisted suicide in the Italian legal order. Originating from the recent developments in court rulings and case law, the legal evolution of assisted suicide in Italy is concisely summarised and analysed with a particular focus on the ethical debates and private law implications it brought about. To conclude the essay, a brief comparison with the Austrian legal discipline of this phenomenon is offered, which is aimed at granting relevant cross-border insights.
