Art. 1505 of the Russian Civil Code obliges the trademark owners to notify the Russian Patent and Trademark Office of any changes in the name or address of the trademark owner (mergers and transformations of the trademark owner are also recorded as a change of name). No sanctions for failure to notify the Russian Patent and Trademark Office in time on a change of the name or address of the trademark owner have been provided for. However, it is in the interest of the trademark owner that his data are always up to date, as oppositions or cancellation actions against the registered person and address are considered duly served and can result in a decision by default.
