The Russian Civil Code defines an assignment as follows: „One party (the right holder) transfers or undertakes to fully transfer its excusive right in a result of intellectual activities or in a means of identification to another party (assignor)“ (Art. 1234). The assignment contract comes into force on the date of its recordal by the Russian Patent and Trademark office and is considered null and void without such recordal (Item 2, Art. 1232 of the Russian Civil Code). Any provision introducing another date of entry into force is void26.
