If one wanted evidence that contemporary advanced societies are moving towards a condition of ‘post-democracy’, the out-workings of the 2008 Anglo-American banking crisis and subsequent Euro-crisis certainly satisfy that need. At the same time, these events contain some other lessons of a different kind.
