Annual leave = paid time off from work for recreational purposes.
The entitlement to annual leave is based on the Vacation Act, which applies equally to white-collar and blue-collar workers.
The entitlements in the Vacation Act are unconditional, i.e., they cannot be altered to the disadvantage of the employee.
