Abstract This article contains an analysis of the Spanish Constitutional Court’s judgment on Law 19/2022 of 30 September, which recognised the legal personality and rights to the Mar Menor and its basin. In addition to the analysis of the aforementioned judicial verdict, the article discusses the socio-legal context in which it was handed down, provides an update on the development of Law 19/2022, and examines the effects of the judgment on the Spanish legal sphere (Royal Decree 90/2025) and the European level.
