Abstract Based on the international regulatory framework governing displacement and durable solutions, this paper aims to analyze the complex displacement situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to provide insights into the recent efforts towards ensuring durable solutions. In particular, this contribution outlines the gradual shift in policy from the initial strong push for return as the only option to a broader approach towards resolving the displacement issue. The case of post-conflict Bosnia and Herzegovina hereby illustrates the importance of a carefully conceptualized approach in order to ensure durabe solutions for refuees and Internally Displaced Perons (IDPs), in line with international standards.
