In einem traditionellen Wiener Kaffeehaus sprach mich eine Karte auf einem Ständer mit ungewöhnlichen, nach Aufmerksamkeit heischenden Karten an, auf der stand: „ASKHOLE – „Someone who asks many stupid, obnoxious and pointless questions.“ Die Übersetzungs-Software bestätigte meine Alt-Vokabelerinnerungen zu „obnoxious“ als unausstehlich und zu „pointless“ als zwecklos. Eine Google-Recherche zu „Askhole“ ergab folgende Einträge: „A person who constantly asks for your advice, yet always does the opposite of what you told them.“ Ein weiteres Ergebnis lautete: „It’s a word that’s come up recently to describe someone who asks for your advice, but never follows through on it.“ Und ein wiederum anderes ergab: „‚New Word Suggestion‘: A person who is considered contemptible because they ask too many questions.“
