2.1 Registered signs
The Trademark Law defines that the following signs may be registered as trademarks in Ukraine: words, including proper names and numerals, images, colours and their combinations, as well as any other combinations of these signs. By virtue of law, non-traditional signs in the form of shapes, sound and scents etc. may get protection in Ukraine similarly to traditional signs (e.g. word mark), however, registration of such signs with the official registers depends on the availability of technical facilities of the Ukrainian Patent Office to perform such registration. Therefore, formal registration of certain non-traditional signs may be problematic in practice.
