Changes of a trademark holder's name and address need to be registered in the Trademark Application Register or Trademark Register pursuant to the procedure provided by the Trademark Ordinance. The procedure is rather simple, as the applicant must only submit an application on a specific form (Z-3 form), enclosing with it a power of attorney (if applicable) and proof of payment of fees. Only in case of doubt does the IPO request further evidence concerning changes of name/address. The registration of change of name and address is not mandatory, i.e. failure to register the change does not result in any direct negative consequences. However, in order to keep the data on the registered trademark/trademark application up-to-date, it is recommended to duly report all changes to the IPO.
