2.1 Registered signs
The definition of signs which can be registered as a trademark according to sec 2 Trademark Protection Act has been harmonised with art 1 EC TM Directive. Such a sign has to be capable of being represented graphically and of distinguishing the goods or services of one undertaking from those of other undertakings. Therefore in particular words, personal names, designs, (single) letters or numerals, the shape of goods or their packaging, abstract colours, sounds or even scents can serve as trademarks.
