During the last 20 years the countries in Central and Eastern Europe have seen the most significant political and economic changes in Europe since the end of WW II. They did not only turn into modern democracies, but also had to transform their economic systems dramatically from socialist to capitalist regimes. Some of these countries already joined the European Union and fully transformed the acquis communautaire into their legal systems. Other countries hope to follow soon and already started adapting their laws to those of the European Union.
