1.1 International legislation
Croatia became a member of several international treaties upon becoming a sovereign and independent country. By the constitutional decision on sovereignty and independence, of 25 June 1991, it was declared that international agreements to which ex-Yugoslavia was a party, shall be applicable in Croatia if they do not contravene the Croatian Constitution and its legal system.
