High-Tech or High-Touch: Relationship Banking at the crossroads?
Relationship banking, i.e. the management of customer relations, concentrates on the following business segments: loans to small and mediumsized companies, portfolio management for individual customers, mutual fund for financial institutions. As retail banking faces a declining importance of the personal commitment due to standardization and technological progress, it is doubtful, whether there is evidence for a similar development regarding relationship banking.
